Enrichment ProgramsOur students are at the heart of all of our enrichment programs. As we build our enrichment opportunities we always have them in our minds.
Who are they as people? What are their needs? Where are they going at this exciting and challenging time in history? In what ways might we provide opportunities that stimulate them now and prepare them for their futures? To answer these questions we: Get to know our students as people through following their interests and choices as they move through our schools. Additionally, we continually monitor trends in education and in the world to ensure that Rye Neck remains at the cutting-edge of research-based program development with innovative programming that supports an individualized approach to talent development. We stay in touch with graduates who are in college and the workforce. |
How is enrichment delivered? |
The School-wide Enrichment Model's flexible delivery system means that we can adapt to the needs of our students and offer an array of programming inside and outside of our classrooms. Enrichment is integrated into all aspects of classroom learning through the "how" of curriculum presentation.
Vehicles for curriculum delivery include:
Enrichment opportunities through electives and beyond our classrooms:
We live in an era of any time, any place learning. Our children are a generation that does not see boundaries to learning. As parents and educators, it is our job to guide them to understand the difference between what is worthwhile and what is not and it is their job to find what is most meaningful to them. |
Our History |
In 2000, Dr.'s Mustich and Ferraro, along with the Board of Education trustees, adopted the School-wide Enrichment Model (SEM) as a blueprint for total district enhancement. The goal was to build a flexible infrastructure that would serve as a systemic platform for growing programs that are innovative and provide opportunities for our students to develop their strengths and interests. Since 2000, we have created a K-12 continuum of opportunities, resources, courses, workshops, independent and online learning programs that have helped establish Rye Neck as one of the most progressive school districts in the nation.
